Vintage Sur Le Campus

I've recently started following Greensleeves to a Ground, a "très mignon" French blog that draws its inspiration from "Le BCBG mode de vie Américain". BCBG is a French acronym that stands foir bon chic bon genre or in more familiar terms, Preppy. Greensleeves' author often presents the readers with vintage photos or illustrations that showcase the old collegiate lifestyle and I thought it would be interesting to show you a vintage Sears Ad that presented the newest Campus Styles to its buyers.

1933 Sears Ad - just look at the width of those pant cuffs !

Shameless Pitch #2 - PhotoGnomics

Time for another shameless pitch, this time however for my photography website, PhotoGnomics. Ever since I bought my new DLSR, I have found myself taking multitudes of photographs and I recently felt the artistic urge to showcase them somewhere that was not my Facebook photo albums. Enjoy!

Post #100 - An Ebullient Duke Summer's Day

Browsing some of Duke University's vintage photo albums on Flicker proved incredibly rewarding when I stumbled upon this little gem of a picture. Taken in 1986 by then Duke student Mark Estrada , this B&W photo manages to encapsulate the things that make me love Duke as much as I do: the incredible architecture that gives the campus an aged and mysterious feel, the great weather of the south and the desire for learning and bettering one's self that I see in so many fellow "Dukies". If you never thought you could get a tan and catch up on your reading, all the while being part of an amazing campus, this here picture will prove you wrong. I have been saving it for a special occasion and I couldn't think of one that would be more fitting than celebrating the 100th post on this blog.

To Duke and to many many more posts to come; I thank y'all so much for reading and following!

Photographic Spotlight #1 - Lisa Loftus

Photography is one of the most widespread forms of expression of our times and starting with this post I would like to acquaint you with some of my favourite photographers from around the world. Some of them are famous , some like to focus on only one theme, but be the best at it, while some like to capture beauty in any form and shape.

Lisa Loftus is a NYC and L.A. based photographer whose work encompasses everything  from fashion to day-to-day life and through her photos she is able to capture the energies and soul of all of her subjects  in a fascinating manner. Pictures do speak for themselves though and I give you but a couple of my favourites:
